— What began as the annual season finale between Woodland and Ramay turned into the Brice Gahagans Show.

Behind the running back’s 291 yards and three touchdowns on 23 carries, the Indians knocked off their crosstown rival 26-14 on Thursday.

“He’s done that all year long,” Ramay coach Craig Foringer said. “Big-time players play big-time in big games, and this was a bigtime atmosphere. He was ready to go.”

Woodland (6-3, 5-3 NWAC) countered with an explosive passing attack spearheaded by Austin Allen, but could seeminglydo nothing to slow down Gahagans in the fi rst half.

“He’s the best running back I’ve seen at Ramay since I’ve been here,” Woodland coach Bobby Crockett said. “He’s a man among boys in this league, and his o◊ensive line did a great job.”

Ramay (7-3, 6-2) didn’t waste any time scoring, as Gahagans carried the football three times for 57 yards and a touchdown in the opening 1 minute, 37 seconds.

But the Cowboys responded by going 83 yards in seven plays, with Allen connecting with Cole Harris for a 57-yard completion on Woodland’s fi rst o◊ensive play.

Harris then caught a 3-yard touchdown pass on ascreen play to tie the score at 7-7.

After forcing a turnover, Woodland got the ball back early in the second quarter and Allen found Alex Brignoni for 50 yards before Coleson Young scurried in from 3 yards out to go up 14-7.

Gahagans answered on the ensuing play, however, racing 82 yards untouched to tie the score at 14-14. He also added a 58-yard touchdown run with 21 seconds remaining in the fi rst half, but Ramay missed the extra point, leaving it at 20-14 at the break.

Ramay controlled the ball for most of the second half, and quarterback Brayden Cook sneaked in from the 2 with 4:55 remaining for the fi nal score.
