Calvary Baptist Church, 1410 Porter Road, Fayetteville, will kick off its new Awana year at 6:25 p.m. Wednesday. Awana Clubs at Calvary include Puggles, Cubbies, Sparks, and Truth and Training for boys and girls age 3 through sixth grade. Clubs will meet each Wednesday night during the school year.

Calvary also has Wednesday classes for teens, college students and adults. Each Wednesday service is preceded by a fellowship meal served from 5:30-6:15 p.m. in the Family Life Center. Wiggins Memorial United Methodist Church, 205 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., in Fayetteville is hosting a free community lunch on Saturday, Sept. 5, in celebration and honor of the Labor Day holiday. There will be a cookout and barbecue in place of the church's usual Saturday luncheon. The church hosts a free community lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Saturday in Fellowship Hall.

Central United Methodist Church, at 6 W. Dickson St. in Fayetteville, will present its Dayspring Revival starting at 7 p.m. each day Sept. 13-16.

Each night's service also includes a 6 p.m. session of BibleQuest, a fast-paced program designed to make learning about the Bible exciting for elementary students.

The Dayspring Revival will be a blend of songs and stories by Bedford, Texas, Methodist evangelist Wesley Putnam, a storyteller who conveys biblical messages through characterizations that bring the stories to life in new ways. Putnam is joined by his wife, Felicia, in leading revival worshippers in old and new songs.

Unity of Fayetteville, 4880 W. Wedington Drive, will host a shoe drive to benefit Soles4Souls Inc., The Shoe Charity, from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19. Northwest Arkansas residents are invited to recycle their "gently worn" shoes for people in need. There will also be fun activities, a barbecue, a potluck and a bake sale, with karaoke performances and local bands. Monetary donations will be accepted.
